Early Years
Elyssia was always told that she'd been born cold. She was born to a widowed woman, Amiah, along with her twin, Aeinda. From the beginning, the two showed promise. This promise was pushed and molded by their mother and to this day, neither sister is sure what was inherent to them and what was their mother's doing. What is clear, however, is that as the two sisters trained in both spell and blade, they both showed a lean towards frost magic. Aeinda's manifested normally, as one would expect of a mage. Elyssia's was volatile, strong, and ever-present. No matter what she did, everything was ice.Once old enough, they began their studies in the mage kingdom of Dalaran. Aeinda did well, though she heavily favored the blade over her magic. Though their mother had always favored Elyssia, those of Dalaran favored Aeinda. No matter how strong her frost abilities, Aeinda's mastery over magic was more complete and consistent. Aeinda also surpassed the much shier Elyssia in socialization. She was more outgoing and didn't carry Ely's natural icy chill. This led to Elyssia keeping to herself most of the time and she began to avoid touching others when possible.
Third War
The sisters had continued their studies, each becoming quite respectable in their own rights. They continued that way in Dalaran until news of a mysterious plague in Lordaeron surfaced. This put everyone on alert and Jaina Proudmoore was sent to assist. However, worse news was to come. News of the fallen Lordaeronian Prince, Arthas Menethil, heading north to Quel'Thalas. Faced with the news, Aeinda became adamant that they should return to Silvermoon and aid in its defense. Elyssia, however, was reluctant to abandon Dalaran for any reason. And so the two parted ways. Quel'Thalas was ruined. Silvermoon fell. Their mother was slain. Aeinda became embittered. Then Arthas turned his gaze upon Dalaran. Elyssia joined the fight, doing what she could to first help evacuate the city. Mages stronger than she created a shield, though it fell bit by bit. She and others attempted to assist once it did. Antonidas was slain and the Death Knight's goal was completed. Elyssia was still within the city when it fell. She can clearly remember the destruction. She remembers the crumbling of a tower next to her, nearly killing her as she was trapped underneath rubble for over a day. After this, Elyssia recovered, staying with the Dalaranian refugees. Aeinda followed Kael'Thas Sunstrider, deeming herself a Blood Elf along with others. She vowed vengeance upon Arthas and grew to hate the humans who had cast them aside in their time of need.
Silver Covenant
As Dalaran positioned itself for war against the Lich King, a rift grew within the elven population. The blood elves began to refer to themselves the Sunreavers, gaining concern from their high elven peers. In response, the Silver Covenant was formed. Elyssia and Aeinda, both serving Dalaran at this time, followed their respective groups. During this time, Elyssia began to feel a strong draw. Something in Northrend just felt right. It felt like home. Despite everything, she felt comfortable. She was happy. She stayed mostly in Dragonblight and Crystalsong, killing Scourge and helping with the Nexus War.Though conflict was brewing once more between the Alliance and Horde, things within Dalaran kept a tentative neutrality. That was, until Garrosh Hellscream bombed Theramore. That was when things changed for all associated with the city of mages. Rhonin was dead and the distraught and biased Jaina Proudmoore took his place at the head of the Kirin Tor. Thus began the Purge of Dalaran as all Horde, Sunreavers included, were removed from the city by force as Jaina had become convinced that the Sunreavers had helped Garrosh. Despite it all, Elyssia and Aeinda never once turned their blades against each other.Aeinda fought back hard and Elyssia lost track of her. The moment the battle finished, Elyssia resigned from the Silver Covenant formally. While she would occasionally take a job or two from them, she would never again be a member. Though Elyssia didn't know it at the time, Aeinda was killed during the Purge.
Shadowlands
Life was fairly uneventful for Elyssia for a while. She had refused to participate in the Fourth War, keeping herself primarily in Dalaran or Northrend for that time. As much as she spent time in Northrend, it was no surprise that she started to notice as the undead there became riled once more. She temporarily joined with a group known as Custodes Vitae during this time. While with the group, she met a man named Colton. Ely fell fast and she fell hard. Something was always off, though. He never seemed to want her around or to actually state that they were, in fact, dating. Eventually, she learned why this was. Colton was living a double life and, in his other life as a rogue, he had someone else he cared more for. That rift formed, Elyssia left the Custodes, only keeping up with two members: Jurayle Townend and Saoirse Buckner. She headed back to Northrend, spending the majority of her time slaying restless Scourge. It was something she knew well. Occasionally, she and Jurayle crossed paths, as he did similar. Despite working underneath the shattered sky, she never much tried to venture past the veil and into the Shadowlands, despite her friends doing so.With the Jailer defeated and the Scourge under more control, Elyssia returned to Stormwind. Nearly immediately, she was pulled into both The Onyx Company and the Midnight Repose. She fell hard for a man named Feldrius Violetvale and has become close to many of his peers and colleagues. Though she and Feldrius separated, she still cared greatly for him. She stepped away from The Onyx Company to carve her own path alongside two others, Ember and Alek to establish the Elemental Voyage. While beginning training, she met Michael Bradford and began to date him, trying out the idea of an open relationship.
Embracing the Elements
With the help of Ember and several other shaman, Elyssia began to truly discover the source of her frost. Ember, Ely, and Alek headed to the Ghostlands to visit Elyssia's childhood home, Suncrown Village. There, they found an altar underneath Lake Elrendar and a necklace of binding. Ember and Elyssia reached out to this altar from the surface and something made a connection within Ely. She saw flashes of memory and learned the source of her frost abilities. A frost elemental known as Glacis had been subjected to a binding ritual just before she and her sister were born. Glacis escaped with the help of Vaelor Dawnshield, Elyssia's father. Though the elemental attempted to help Vaelor, the man was accidentally killed by those trying to stop him from releasing the elemental. Glacis decided to repay this kindness by saving one of Vaelor's unborn daughters. Elyssia would have never survived birth without the elemental intervention.Things remained calm until the appearance for the Dracthyr within Stormwind. Though they came as refugees, it didn't take long for some of them to begin hurling distrust, insults, and violence in the directions of any elemental users they saw. Elyssia became a target for them, as did her friends. Things did calm with time and Elyssia began to aid against the Primalists, being elected a Farseer of the Earthen Ring. Michael and Elyssia married and had twins, a boy and girl, both frosty in nature.Elyssia and Michael recused themselves for a while, staying home to take care of their babes without much interaction with the outside world. She came back to find much had changed. Allies had turned on one another. The Voyage dissolved, all going their own ways. Elyssia was left in a lurch, unsure where to go. Eventually, she was voted onto the Farseer council for the Earthen Ring, holding the position for several months before stepping away once more.
A New Path
With time, Elyssia became restless and stifled. Her marriage had taken a turn, as had her work with the Ring. It had all stagnated and fallen apart. Michael and Elyssia separated and she stepped back from her work with the Ring, remaining an ally if needed. She joined her old friend, Selilitha Runeburst, and former flame, Feldrius, in a new endeavor with the Order of Amaryllis, a relic hunting group.
